DEADLY PLEASURES MYSTERY MAGAZINE – NEW ISSUE FEBRUARY 2025!
George Easter has just sent out the latest issue of his Deadly Pleasures Mystery Magazine (No. 106) and it is bumper issue featuring the best reads of 2024 and the most anticipated crime novels of 2025, as well as the usual reviews and interesting articles.
The magazine is now up to 106 issues, which is a remarkable achievement by George, and it is undoubtedly the premier crime magazine for fans. Deadly Pleasures is now only available electronically, but subscribers can download and print for themselves. The price is very very reasonable for an annual subscription (see below) and is well worth getting.
The magazine’s main article is the most comprehensive listing of the best books from last year that you could find! George has collated 108 “Best Of” lists from newspapers, magazines, independent reviewers, websites and bloggers from around the world and included them in the magazine. He has also analysed the lists to find the most mentioned titles. This year the clear winner was Liz Moore’s literary crime novel The God Of The Woods, which received 37 mentions! Also high on the list were books by Chris Whitaker, Richard Osman, Tana French and Amy Tintera’s witty debut. The list included some predictable favourites, but this year there were a number of surprises too. Certainly well worth checking out. Complementing the Best of 2024, is an article on the Most Anticipated Crime Novels and Thrillers of 2025. This is a terrific listing of around 200 crime and thriller books due out this year, in both the United Kingdom and the United States, along with short blurbs for each of them. I was vaguely aware of most of them, but George also identified some books which I had not realised were scheduled for release. I was particularly excited to see the new titles by Michael Robotham, S. A. Cosby, Michael Bennett, Ruth Ware, Mick Herron, Robert Galbraith and a new Cormac O’Reilly book by Dervla McTiernan. It looks like being another great year for crime fiction!
In addition, there are the usual of wealth of reviews of current and forthcoming titles, including special sections on United Kingdom and Australian books, and interviews with Anna Sharpe and C. S. Robertson. A must read for crime and thriller readers!
