DEADLY PLEASURES MYSTERY MAGAZINE – NEW ISSUE SEPTEMBER 2026 AND FREE!

George Easter has just sent out the latest issue of his Deadly Pleasures Mystery Magazine (No. 112), and it is a bumper issue featuring reviews, interviews, a valuable list of the best crime books released so far this year, and a whole host of other crime fiction related information.

The magazine is now up to 112 issues, which is a remarkable achievement by George, and it is undoubtedly the premier crime magazine for fans. Deadly Pleasures is now only available electronically, but subscribers can download it and print for themselves if they want. The good news is that it is now also FREE!

George announced with the release of issue 112 that he is doing away with subscriptions and that the magazine will be free to everyone who wants it. Details about how to access it can be found on George’s website (see below for the link to the Deadly Pleasures site).

The current issue clocks in at just over 90 pages. The main article focuses on popular thriller author Mark Greaney and other writers of recent action novels. It is an interesting article that provides some good recommendations for those interested in these types of thrillers.

Another highlight is the interesting interviews with Scottish writer Alan Parks on his new World War II thriller Deception, which is a great read, and American author Ilona Bannister.

Of course, there is also the usual sweeping collection of book reviews that cover all aspects of crime fiction from cozy mysteries to detective novels to action thrillers and psychological suspense. There are now substantial sections on historical and traditional mysteries, as well as a number of reviews of British crime novels. There is also the usual good dose of American crime stories and a round up of action thrillers. As well, there is the regular section on Down Under Crime Fiction, including new books by Australian and New Zealand authors such as Sherryl Clark, Jason Summers, Inessa Jackson and Anthony Byrt.

Mike Ripley also provides his usual entertaining column on all things crime fiction, including his views on new books by Jane Harper and Michael Ridpath, and recent author events.

As always, one of the highlights of Deadly Pleasures Mystery Magazine is the ongoing list of the best crime and thriller titles of 2026, which is a great source for those looking for something to read. And there is a list of forthcoming books from now to March 2027, including those by Michael Connelly, Ian Rankin and Val McDermid, to name a few. Finally, topping it off, there is the short list of nominees for the annual Barry Awards, the winners of which will be announced at Bouchercon on 22 October 2026.

Once again, Deadly Pleasures is a terrific read that will inspire your criminal reading and alert you to those books that may fall a little short of expectations. It really is a must read for anyone interested in crime novels, mysteries and thrillers. Especially now that it is FREE.
